Terrain Boards, Cons, and the Future part XIV

        The rain is playing with me. Its a holiday. I got nothing to do. This crap is taking forever to dry. It is creating an unpredictable reaction. I am going all stop. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day for drying. Or maybe it will take that much longer to dry. 

        The rain continues another day. Almost an all stop today. 

                I had order more flock it came and the lighter one is lighter, the darker darker. I used the exact same source codes. One river section, the test section, will not fully match. There is no way I am going to do it again.

Back Out on the Road part II

 

        

       Last week was at the Hilton Garden. Good light and they were a hundred cheaper than everyone else. I was able to finish up the 1666 Veterans of the Tecio. I needed only to finish the bases and seal them. They are done and counted

        Back again. Same customer. They are turning into a shit magnet. Same Hotel. Different minis. I have serval slave girls and Black Scorpion pirates with me this week. The dancing girls are ebay specials from some D&D range. 

        As the 1695 crew gets onto the paint table slaves will become a thing. Remember these 4 girls were pleasure slaves initially. Where as the Caribbean Pirates generally released the slaves they found on board, or took them on as crew, and were allies of escaped slaves. I don't think those female slaves taken in the India ocean or those of the Barbary pirates were so lucky. As witnessed in the 1695 incident where the slave girls were jumping into the sea to get away from the English Pirates. 

        I also had Tortuga house 3 with me.

        And then on the way out this happen. Just great!

Dark Realms Tortuga house 3 part II

        I should state a plan or a goal other than just printing shit out. A ton of random printed stuff is...well another pile of shame.

                Goal; To have a Caribbean island/Arabic 1700 town area in which to game Blood & Plunder and Anno Domini 1666. All structure to pull double duty.

                  Plan; Print out a dock yard and supporting structures. Print out a Corsair proper town. Be done by Fall In 2023.

Maybe tie it all into the original B&P board

        All 3 roof pieces were printed out on the Ender. It fucked up 2 of them. The 3rd is a little dicked up but not enough. The Flashforge stepped in and printed out the porch roof again. It is printing the other half now.

        I said I could live with the Ender porking a side of the 2nd floor. That was until the arches failed to fit. Green stuff for the patch job. I have the air brush soaking or it would be painted.

        Now this is the part I cannot figure out. I test fitted the steps, painted them. After gluing them in place the 2nd floor would not fit. Some how the width of the top of the steps is bigger than the hole they slide through. They broke of course. 

        The insides of all the buildings will get painted on the road.

        The FlashForge burned out the 2nd floor porch supports. No issue of course. The porch's rails will print out tomorrow. Everything will get painted on the road all together.

        I am not printing the steps again. Their point in game play would only be occupying space and indicating where up/down occurrs.

        The holes in the top of the wall are so the doors will move. They are printing now. The hole is paper clip diameter.

Dark Realms Tortuga house 3

 

        These building are from Dark Realms Miniatures. I bought both the City of Corsairs and Tortuga. Early pirate action came out of Tortuga with the Buccaneers. City of Corsairs being the famous and very active Barbary pirates. from the This is buildings 3 from Tortuga.

        The Ender finally got some shit done. It takes forever to print, 50 hours. I have it set on the medium print quality. I would hate to see how long fine quality takes. The door and window supports pop out with a good smack.

        The first floor was primed brick red. Then the air brush laid down bone.

        Great buildings. They have interlocking studs to keep the floors together.

        The FlashForge is saving the day. It prints much faster at the highest quality. With both printers running I can get a building printed in a few days. The delay being the Ender. The FF plows through the parts that fit on its bed. The stairs, I thought would be a problem printed with out issue. The arch printed un supported. The Flashforge is a monster. Best in class printer.         

                           

        I have burnt thru the filament. 30 pounds of filament drop shipped and stored.

        The next building, Tortuga bldg 6, is on the Ender. It will take 3 days and a third of a roll to print the 1st floor. I have moved the print to the back right of the bed. Every print seem to pull up from center to the left edge. I have checked and checked everything over and over. It still pulls up. We will see what happen this time.

         How about that? It printed with no issues while I was gone. The girls checked in on it morning and night. Now I need to teach them to start a print.

        And I am home and the raft starts to pull up. WTF? That front left corner is a little jacked up. I won't stop the print. In the days these building were built. The builders were not kept to the highest standards. Good enough was shitting excellence back then! My building will be more accurate being sort of jacked up.

Anno Domini 1666 "Veterans Of the Tercios"

        Moving off from Pirates, not completely. Yet sticking with the Spanish. The first up is 1666's the Veterans of the Tercios. These dudes are non musketeer shooters, but swords out.

        I have run out of GW bone primer. I switched to Lowes,  River Rock. It is more than half the price. Does the exact same thing. It is easier to get. I will spray arm length away with short bursts.

        I normally wash them in Army painter Dark tone before starting. Well......because.....remember I can't see any god dam more. It helps me identify the details and black lines everything. 

        I said normally. I could not find the AP wash anywhere. So I threw on a blackish GW one. The GW one is extra shiny and slick. I had to matte spray them to get the paint to stick. Then I see the AP wash dead nuts in front of where I was sitting!

           I am going to stick with the Original Tercio paint scheme. While adding in some from the examples below. I really like the way this group turned out!

1666 Veterans

        I am not totaling leaving the Pirates behind. This commander for the Spanish is close enough in dress to get batch painted with the 1666 Veterans. All will be or could be used in both games.

        The Blue and Red will tie him in with all the others

        Forgot to paint the pistols. They are painted now.

Back out on the Road

 

        After a couple weeks sitting at home. I am out on the road again. Actually I thought this job would be last week. No real surprise. Yet still I was hoping to sit again. 

        Those past few weeks a lot got done. I restarted the Tiles and did some pirates. A new printer showed up and I switch the kid to private school. I got a game in. Oh and some where in there I got sick again. Some wicked productive days.

        Its good to be out. I was 5 minutes away form throwing the Ender across the fuckin street. Only to run out and beat that piece of shit to death with a rock.

        I am in a Home2. Some sort of Hilton chain thing. Everything in this bad water town is full up for some reason. No idea who or why any one would come here. Hoe2 is not too bad. The shower sucks, but the desk lamp is nice.

        I am fly through the Veterans of the Teracos. Excellent minis, a joy to paint. Never thought I would paint 28s or enjoy painting them again so much.

        I got another 1666 mini, a B&P mini and a Black Scorpion mini with me. If everything continues the way shit is going, I will finish them this trip!

        On the PC. I am listening to the Cody Alford interview. He was a MARSOC raider.
