Saga Age of Hannibal/Alexander part II

 

            A boring dude is a danger to himself. I ordered me more 28mm Ancients. Little plastic bastards one has to put together. No reason, other than I was reading the Saga lists. Hmmm it would be cool to have this and that. These plastic buggers come 60 to a kit. I need maybe 24 total!

        All the Imperial Roman plastics sold off. I didn't get much more than 50% for them. The painted Romans scored hundreds. It paid for the new plastics. There I am robbing Peter for Paul. I have serval bags of metal Romans to sell. 

        All were painted in 2012 or 13 maybe? Never based or shields attached. Not much effort. A small touch up here and there. The Little Big Men shield transfers are easy, but the cutting is a complete time sink.

        Total opposite here. I end up repainting almost everything. Including the dam horses. I hate painting horses. Repainting was never the intent. I got sucked in. 

        The spear were the worst. The dudes hands are not open enough for the spears to fit. It was all glue and green stuff to put the spears in place.

Terrain Boards, Cons and the Future part XXVII

 

Tile "F"

                Down to the final push. Tile F was left with its roads dressed in. The weather prevented the next step. The humidity was too high and it was too cold to spray large scale. I am back for a weekend. Nice weather. NFL is at the play off stage. I got more time than usual on a quick turn around.

                I want to repurpose my older special build, buildings. I am kind of attached to them. These buildings have been with me for a long time. I dropped out of Epic in 7th grade. I was into Soccer and skirt chasin. When Epic came back into my life 2005. The war got in the way. Epic was waiting for me when I came home in 09. It was after this time the special builds came about. It would be sad to lose them! 

                At one point I did a Tank Factory that a Warhound crashed into. It was sell it or make it fit. 

                Now that it fits. I pulled off most the vines and tuffs. I will need to repainted.

                Then I had an old school plastic ruin build. Again it was make it fit or sell it. I ran it through the band saw. As you can see it is a little short. That was on purpose. I will dress in the rough cut sides and repaint it.

            Stepping away for a week or so caused some panic. I was not thinking about the project. That started get me thinking I missed things. The completed boards are back on the gaming table.

Saga Age of Hannibal/Alexander

            I am not starting anything new. Not exactly. No miniature painting. No buying of dudes. There are two large squares boxes full on 28 ancients.

            The Imperial Romans are already up on eBay.

            I have ancients in 28s. I did them long ago in NY. I painted 3 Roman Aux units and a bunch of Greeks and a bunch of Carthaginians. Never based any of them. They have been chilling in foam since I finished them. 

            The Imperial Romans I painted I sold late last year.

            Kal was telling me about it at Fall In. I have looked through one of his books. But because I found my Imperial Romans in 28 and then sold those Romans. I started thinking about selling the rest and all the unpainted dudes. Thinking about Saga, remembered having such things painted. Saga being a low minis count game, 25 total. I said self, you can field an army with little effort. You could bring it to AdeptiCon and play.

            The dam books are not cheap, 50 beans. No used ones for chips floating about. The dam dice are pricey too. 

            Some of those 28s I bought. The cavalry of course. I hate painting horses. There are enough dudes for two 8 mini units. One in Spanish type war gear. The other in Macedonian. Whoever I bought them from was most likely from England and a they were done by a painting service long ago.You can tell by the style, the skin tone, and effort. These would have been the painting services lowest grade.

            They are absolutely fine the way they are. The 3 colors are there. Rebasing is need to meet Saga rules and its worn. 

            There I sit waiting for shit to DRY on the FW table. I should be painting Sallies, but I packed them for 2 weeks in Cali. I should be painting Pirates or Anno Domini. 

            Ah....I will touching them up where there are chips. Ahhhh....some color is needed. The horses could use a speed wash. MOFO I am balls deep into repainting them. Dam socks too.

            The Roman Aux were all painted up un based chilling in the foam. The brown group is the smallest of the two. Tan and blue are double the size. While other thing where happening. I glued them to bases. While watching TV I cut out the LBM transfers.

            Little Big Men transfers are such a pain. They look far beyond anything else. Man do they suck to deal with. There is no real generic size. They are all sized to the manufacturer. I have no idea who made the minis. The shields were in a random bag in a big ass box.

Traveling and painting in 2024

Not a good start to the Year.

        Slow start to the Year. I have sat for most of January. Israel got canceled and other installs delayed. I got bounced off the Cali trip too. 

        1st one out. Holiday Inn all the way. They are running 2k a stay plus double points. The Holiday Inn I am at lets you add 5k a night. Thats 2k plus 15k doubled for one stay? Crazy!

        Good desk and light. The job when straight to the shit right out of the gate. All night in meetings and writing AARs. No minis got painted. 

        2nd week same place, same deal. 23 hours flying for 5 hours of work. Never took the case out of my bag. Someone died, I got to go.

        19hrs later I am in the Cuse. Its a hotel called ALoft. This time I am paying with points, 19k a night. Nice desk and a good light. No mini painting this time either. 

         Back home and my father's sister is in the hospital. Nothing is getting done this weekend.
