Warmaster Weekend "Rules question"

 

    The Cold Ones charge and eat the skeletons. The support falls back as they are effected by the combat result. The zombies all the way on the Skeletons left flank are not effected by the combat result, correct?

        The Hive Mind has spoken. We played it correctly. Those Zombies on the side are un-effected by the combat.

Warmaster Lizards Vs Vamps

             Last weekend I got to visit Maj Brown. He is a long time Warmaster guy. He terrain is spectacular. His armies are beautiful. 

            This was a game ruled by the dice. Lizards win 2 to 1. The Maj's right flank never got off more than 1 command rolla turn. The left flank moved once and never moved again until the last turn. The knight refused to move all game. This let the slow Lizards get into place and concentrate. Krox on a hill are tough to push off.

            Matt, another Matt from the group of Matts, was down visiting family. I was home nose picking this week. The wives didn't care or assign tasks. I got to host. The Lizards won. Not by any great generalship. 

            Matt's Cold Ones charged my Cold Ones in echelon. His were banged up. Mine were banged up. One or two stands left in each unit. Had they won and advanced into the echeloned Cold Ones, it would have been a different story. They won the first round and lost the second. Mine pounced in my turn. 

            The Krox, did Krox stuff. I got off two Wings of the jungle. And the Terradons blew the first engagement. They held on for the rest of the game being a nuisance.

Blood and Plunder "Fire on the Frontier"

 

        I am completely happy with Muskets and Tomahawks ver 1. (I never got ver 2. I did not see a reason to upgrade other than to upgrade) Now I have not played in years. The minis are still in cold storage. I hope they survived storage better than the ACW. Dad did break the fort during a storage to storage move. I can still remember his face. The box broke open and the fort exploded. It sounded like someone throwing a dish down the hall. Poor him. I scooped it back up into its box and said it was an easy fix.

        All of this has jack all nothing to do with Blood and Plunder. Yet on the 15th of December "Fire on the Frontier" is released. Pre Orders are up NOW. 

        I believe Fire on the Frontier is set earlier than M&T. The real difference would be the proliferation of fire arms and the type of musket. B&P's books are wonderfully beautiful. Of course they will be minis too. I am most interested in the minis.  Only two or three sets are up for pre order. Hopefully they will expand the range.

AdeptiCon 2022 "Warmaster and Epic are a go"

        Outstanding! Matt from HMGS mid west called an audible. After finding out on the last day to submit events to AdeptiCon. We briefly spoke about asking to late submit. 3 days later Epic and Warmaster have been submitted and accepted. Warmaster tourney is on Friday the 25th. Epic tourney is Saturday the 26th. Both I think have 10 player cap.

        If someone needs a loaner army, hit me up. We had people stop by at HistoriCon wanting to play with no army. We all have multipe armies. I am happy to teach or run a demo anytime.

Cold Wars "location sort of"

 

        Cold Wars was announced to be in Ocean City. The Board ran away. People were not happy about Ocean city. It was said that they were considering a location change. For now it is Ocean City. 

        It would be an hour and a half more for me to drive. Fuck Ocean City. I would go to Fredericksburg 1st. So I think I would ditch Cold Wars for Little Wars. Little Wars and AdeptiCon.

HistoriCon 2021 "Day 3"

 

            Warmaster Revolution Tourney day. The tourneys are in the same spot they were last time we were at Valley Forge Casino. The tourneys are on the casino side downstairs. It is a huge open space with cement floors. So noisy and hard on the back by the end of the day.

            I took Lizardmen this year. And I screwed up before leaving. Originally I had selected 9 Saurus warriors.  I own 7. I have to find 150 points. That 150 got me a Kroxigor for 135 and I eat the 15 points.

Game 1  Take and Hold scenario

            I played Bryan. (I think he spells it with a "Y") Bryan took Demons. Wonderfully paint Black Gate miniature Demons. He had two large brigades of chariots and Cavalry set one the Flanks. In the center sat Infantry. I set up with my Cavalry left of center with a all Saraus brigade and Teradons to their right. On the flanks sat Kroxigors and Saraus brigades. The shinks hid in the woods all game.

            I opened with with double moves. Yeah passed every command roll. Right flank Kroxigors got into the woods just off the objective. The Left flank Kroxigors shifted towards the center. The center Saraus took a hill on the Left flank. Cold Ones to the center left. Teradons hanging out wait to pounce. 

            Bryan sent both Cavalry Brigades against the Kroxigors. His right flank pulled off an Alexander Cavalry maneuver to get in front of the Krox in the open. They failed to charge. His left flank Cav brigade continuosly bounced off the Krox anchored in the woods. 

            My left flank Krox charged his Cav brigade on initiative. The cold ones followed in on orders.

Game 2

        I can't remember my opponent's name. He had Orks. He won. Those little bastards have a spell that drives you back. My cold ones did zip. The Krox did their best dishing out wounds, but could make a save.

Game 3 Take and Hold

        Dave's Dwarfs. Another spectacular painted army! Well there are cannons. Lizards have no shooting. Wings of the jungle failed 3 times, including the reroll. Bye bye Teradons. The cannons ate my left flank completely. The Cold ones were on the left. They were running a Mango maneuver. They were there ready to roll Dave left flank in the flank. And and failed to order. Then failed wings of the jungle. Then got shot off the board. The Krox brigade in the center slammed home with the Saraus on flank and in support. 30 plus dice scored me 4 hits and 2 wounds. 

        Dave wipe the room clean with my sorry ass.

HistoriCon "Day 4"

 

                EA tourney is today. I have NetEA World Eaters. Kal spit back my initial submitted list. The list champion changed Dreadcraw pricing. Which is not correct in the army builder. It was 25 points per Dreadcraw per detachment. It is now 5 points per unit within the detachment. Then to give a Berzerker Retinue a dreadcraw, it would be 40 points. Well that 40 points is an odd ball number and just dicks everything up.  So Dreadcraw for me.

Game 1

            Hot tub time machine. Bill is back! Bill is back. Bill is a great dude. Funny fucker. I had not seen him in 10 or 8 years. When I first started back into Epic he helped me out. Bill run my first Epic tourney. And I got him and his Eldar game 1. Bill won, 2 - 0. Blitz and T&H. I took him to turn 4. I just did not have enough left on table to go to turn four. 

            The stupid Eldar jet bikes were a bitch and the stole the Blitz from me. It sucks to be an engage army when the other guy can just float up and give you the finger.

    We were set to area denial on the gate. All summoned up. Come out and get stuffed.

        Now had I killed this dude. The game would have been mine. I didn't know what his death would do to the Eldar on board in line of sight. All I had to do was pop him. He was broke and down to one wound. And I didn't?????

    They went ape shit and landed 14 hits on the titan, 1 a TK. They titan won the engagement. They were broke with 2 stands left. The titan limped away with 2 DC left.

Game 2

        I played Matt and his steel legion. The Shadowswords paled with the defilers all game. Then I made a mistake. By advancing up my right flank, I vacuumed all his forces into a tight castle. There was no point to hit. My termies cam down and sat on my Blitz. There by saving my BTS. The Bikes came on an end around, try to pull apart the castle on the left flank. They hit, killed, out numbered, had a character, and rolled snake eyes. Broken for the rest of the game. His air assault unit was punishing me. 

        Some how in the end of 3. I got TSNP and DTF for the win. The TSNP was alway mine. I took his from him and then play stretch for DTF. Matt shot but could mess up the stretch.

Game 3

        I got to play Fisherman and his Death Korps. This game also went to turn 4. I only had TSNP. It went down to points. A blood bath. 995 to 960, a tie.

        I removed his center and right Flank with the possessed and bikes. The center was entrenched with AA. Planes were shot down on both sides. His left flank was were the party was at. The shadowswords were playing all game with the Defilers. My Berzerker retinues and his mech infantry companies were slugging it out. The termies came down, summoned, surrounded, and eat a Mech company loaded up.

    Dave has always run the Epic event at AdeptiCon. Dave is unavailable in 2022. Events have closed. No Epic at AdeptiCon in 2022.

    Another player Matt knows the guy. I have asked if he would contact him. I would do the Epic tourney.

HistoriCon 2021 "Day 2"

 

        When I pre reg I didn't see many fan favorites. No Muskets and Tomahawks, no RF&F, not a single Force on Force. I thought about running games. I should have GMed my Stone River RF&F and ran a Force on Force. Next time

Sweet Tables

Game 1            Battle of Berestechko 1651

                I want to try out a matchlock/musketeer type game. It was Black Powder's Pike and Shot. Which is a great Con game, but over all a very shity game. I was able to meet my objectives and have fun. Sooooo?

         

Game 2            Test of Honour

                I own a copy. I got it last Xmas. Never played it, don't own any minis. Don't plan on ever doing skirmish level Samurai stuff. The rules are pretty cool. I had to give it a go.

                Outstanding table. It own an Award from HMGS. Spectacular minis.

Game 3            Killing Bin Laden

                It 28mm modern. Too big for me. But at the end of the day there were not too many good games to choose from.

                  Now I never made to this game. Why? There is nothing to eat at the Casino. At a Casino, yes. You can get some Dunkin, American sugar laced Chinese, or pizza. Nope wait there is a proper choice. The 75 dollar steak house. Which the staff is all too happy to send you too. Suck my Dick! 75, when there is a Fago de Chao down the street? Never. 

                So after being told the Tavern was closed. Nope, wait it is opening. As I sat waiting. The fat ass short dwarf manager tells the staff that she scraped up that she just hired 4 new people to staff the Tavern. Ah hahahahhaha, you waited 1.5 hrs. No food and beer from cans. I watched with my can of beer as 8 people bitched. Well 3, the other 5 went thermal nuclear dropping F bombs as if they were free. I took my sweet candy ass to Fago.

                OH and I got coined while drinking one beer.

                Which you need a 2 week ago reservation for. I waited another 2 hours. Then ate my weight. After taking a shit, I ate until it was time to go. And then a god dam hooker, drunk bitch whatever, tried to climb in my car. No shit. A hooker by Wegmans. This bitch tried to get in with me. I had to get out and tell this bitch to back the fuck up. WTF? I could see jail coming. 

I am going to tell them fuck this place at the meeting. I am not coming here again.
