Little Wars Day 3 Epic Tourney

 

         

        It was a doomed from the start. The Con event list guy never posted the Tourney. He had to be hit with a stick by Kevin. 4 weeks out the event was finally added. The web events list had the tourney in the main hall. The board had us in the lobby. The morning of No Tables in the hall or lobby. The hall location had another game and the lobby had no table set up. The staff got their shit together and we had tables by 9:45.

        VV dropped for failing a class. Pat dropped??? It was only 2 of us.

       I played two different lists, Traitor Guard and Tau. The TO play Dave's IG, a modified Dave's IG, and IFs with a Warlord.

Game 1

        This game went straight down the whole for Matt. I bust one of his manticores with my Hell Talons. they were just outside of his AA bubble. The rest of turn one we jockeyed for position. In turn two Matt's house burned down. He failed 5 activations. I swarmed him, leaving 2 super heavies unbroken. Turn 3 was mopping up.

Game 2

        I switched to Tau. Matt took a Warlord. He dropped the small tank company, baneblade detachment, sally detachment and Tbolts. Hellhounds gout int there. I don't remember completely. It all started off well. He tore up the broadsides, splashed a cuda, sent 3 railheads to the foam. Then his luck kicked in. No the Tau ate his ass like it was their job. He called the game in mid turn two.

Game 3

        I stayed with the Tau. Matt initially want my bounding marines. Then went for IFs with triple Fellblades, 2 tacts with vinnes and RBs, tact with trenches, Dev with LRs, and fighters. I don't think he made a save turn one. I was making recon saves. Hot dice vs Dead Cold dice. He called the game in turn 2 again.

This was a shit day for Matt. Last time we played, he was the only one to beat my bounding marines. They took Fall In and Cold Wars. They smashed Andy. They were 11 and 0 until we played that Sunday after Cold Wars. He could not get anything to go his way. A Doomed day from the start!

        My Spanish Tercio was beat for best in show. It won,1st place 28mm group. The other two didn't place.
 

Little Wars 2023 Day 2

 

        The hotel is great. The bed is as good or better than the Disney beds onboard ship. The AC worked, the fan was going all night. I was dead to the world. Then I popped out of bed, its 9. No dummy, ya never set your watch back. Its 8!

        Little Wars had huge numbers today. At 8pm there were 23 games and 187 people engaged. At night an event for the GMs was held.

        Weird Musketeer game. I was engaged the whole time. There are better ways to represent the idea.

        Same game RF&F Stones River. I was award a GM metal again.

        I had 4 veteran RF&F players. The game moved so much faster. This was the 1st time out of all, the CSA pushed the north off the hill.

Little Wars 2023 Day 1

 

        East Coast HMGS has some lessons to learn!

        Great venue. Easy to get to. Rooms were available on points. Suites were available with a chit. There is no food available in walking distance. 

        HGMS staff was set up. All badging was easy. Hotel staff had my room ready. I did get cheated out of my suite upgrade. They credited the chit back. There were carts lined up at the door for unloading. The gaming hall has a carpeted floor. so nice to stand on.

        What a smoke pit. Very nice.

        Bar with food was open. The mexican dude was slow and swamped.King of Prussia's was not open and it is a bloodly casino. 

        There is a TV with the games like flights in an airport. There is a board with games available. Every table has a standing dude telling you this is your table. No game list in the event book.

        More games were being run on opening night than at the East coast Cons.  Just not small little 6 player events. 26 player games, massive games!

    Epic demo was my 18:00 game. I had a father and son? from SD. Eastern SD. The dad was very cool. A professor of security. The son was a normal 12 year old. They both had fun and were interested in downloading the rules. The dad talked about printing off an army. 

    Big giant balls running a game opening night 21:00 to 01:00. I never plan on being smashed, but hell at 9. And my head was killing me. I had a full table and took walk ons. All good players. They picked it up in the 1st turn. We played to 12. Everyone was spent.

The road to Little Wars

 

        All my shit is pushed together. I did it all last week and the week before. I never have time the week of the conventions. I didn't want to forget anything. I am Hosting RF&F and Epic demos. Also supporting the Epic tourney with terrain. 

        This one lost the trip for being an asshole. Then re earned her spot and blew it days later.

        Wednesday

            I am driving out with mom. Yep taking my mommy. Mom is going to visit her oldest sister down the road. 

            We will drive out just over half way. I plan on staying in Elkhart, IN. 9 hours and 22.50 in tolls. Tomorrow we finish the last 2.5-3ish hours in the morning, arriving by lunch.
