3D Printing "Replaced my Photon LCD"

My screen or LCD died back on 7/13. I was still within the 3 month warranty. AnyCubic sent a free replacement. It is still not here yet. I had also ordered a back up from eBay. That one arrived. The eBay replacement is the one I will test with increased air flow.
This is the old LCD. I would get this bullshit intermittently. One dude said reseat the connection. It work for a while. Then same story. I truly think it is heat related. Either the connect at the LCD or the part of the ribbon cable exposed to the LEDs is cause thermal expansion.
Here you can see how weak the connection is between the LCD and the ribbon cable

This is my LCD before I replaced it.

Replacement of the LCD

I removed the bottom cover and left side. The ribbon cable is unplugged.
The ribbon cable is plugged into the back side the circuit board on the left side. From there the ribbon cable bends and crawls up the side of the heat sink for the LEDs. Which it passes
thru an opening between the LED mount and the Al plate.
This fan blows out.
The LCD is held in with double back tape. It is really stuck down. I broke the old LCD getting it unstuck. (Sadly no testing to be done.) Once out come the fun part of scraping the old double back off.
After you get the old off, new goes down. I used flooring tape. Now comes the tricky part. 3 thing must happen or your screwed. Once the LCD sticks good luck not breaking it.

1.) Take canned air and blow out any dirt on or in the LED hole.
2.) Feed the ribbon cable all the way into the slot on the left.
3.) Pull the protective backing off the screen.
Plug the LCD in. I had to remove the two screws that hold the board in place. My fingers are too fat to get in there and seat the cable.
How ever you can pull the other side of the double back sticky tape off without removing it. Now put the LCD in. Do not touch the back. And get it in right the first time. I got the cable through. Then put the LCD in cable side, left side first.
Once it is in, remove the protective plastic. I use this yellow electronic tape to seal around the edges. No one wants resin getting in-between the LED and LCD.
Don't be me. Check to ensure your LCD works before taping everything in!
I had ordered these pre cut jobs and never put them in. This time I try them out.
 Screen test.
Because I think it is heat related. I reversed the fan. It is now blowing in, not out. When it blew out it was sucking air in through the print chamber and through a vent in the rear of the casing. This air flow across the LCD heat sink seemed wrong. The fan now blows air from outside directly onto the heat sink. This pressurizes the casing and exhaust will now exit out the rear.
No idea if it is better. Hopefully I will get greater than 2 months or 1000 hrs out of each LCD.
To increase the air flow around the bottom or intake of the casing I bought a laptop cooler. It puts out about 25 CFM. This laptop cooler is blowing into the intake of the casing.
        The cooler was leveled.
The printer leveled to the cooler.
The print station was cleaned and re-organized for the addition of the cooler.

Warmaster Weekend PA Warmaster Barbecue 29 August

Warmaster Barbecue August 29th

I will be hosting an all day out door event. An informal Warmaster Revolution gaming day. Lots of dice, smoked pig, and ball busting. We will be playing Warmaster Revolution rules with everything but skirmishers. It is an informal event. Players can do want they want. I will have 4 scenarios for them if needed.

The tables will be set up outside. Three on the back deck under the gazebo and a 3rd under a party tent. If more people can show, more tables can be added. I have space for up to 10 players. Currently 6 are coming.
If another hurricane comes, I have indoor space. Cooking the pig out side would suck!

The Road Show part II

Well this turned into a shit show. I have the dog and kid with me. We are all staying in the company apartment. They came along to give mom a break. And normally I don't do shit here other than paint. Why not hang out with them?
The dog is confused, doesn't understand what is happening or why we are here. He does not eat his food or people food. He wants to go. This place sucks, says dog. He does not sleep at at. All night long he breaks my balls. Then sleeps like a drunk during the day.
The kid is ok. She does her stuff. I thought or planned to have more time with her. I wanted to teach geometry this week. None of that happen.

Hurricane Dorian updates: path moving away from North Carolina ...

The hurricane came through the customer site. No damage. No flooding. Just two power spikes through the plant. Every tool set but one crashed. One still running windows XP, said nope, no more I am dead. Of course they cried giant crocodile tears. This piss ant storm dicked my whole week up. No painting.

Even if I was going to paint 2 of the 3 over head lights went out where I paint.  On 12 foot ceilings. Straight up the ass. I did get the armor on 14 samurai painted.

Warmaster Weekend "The tool"

On YouTube is a dude, (OnTheLam Games),  making Warmaster Videos. On the Lam is the youtube name. There are currently two down with plans for more. The video are top notch!
In these videos he uses a warmaster ruler/gauge/tool thingy. Y'all know I want one. A whole bunch of dudes were asking for them on the Warmaster Group.

The Road Show "When work returns"

It has been a while since I have had to actual work. As a traveling dude, you miss the road. That is until it gets in the way of painting minis. My usual babysitting customers has changed into hands on attention. They have all been left alone for too long. Just like children being left alone, they start to break stuff. This is my excuse!

I have done nothing hobby wise for weeks. I packed up my kit to paint. Never ever once took it out over the last two weeks. Finally I got to a customer where I can paint. I got a spot cleared, opened the kit, and the customers were calling all night. I never had a chance to even go through my new goodie box.

This morning I am waiting on parts. Finally I get to see what was ordered 3+ months ago. That is all I will get to do today. Next week I am here also. Hopefully next week I can get some painting done.

Your Momma is a Sallie bases part IV

XVIII Legion

Back towards working out a final solution for basing. It is time consuming to drill out each base for the circles the dudes stand on. I have a number of infantry bases squared and drilled for dudes. Those are going to get casted.

The rhino sized vehicles are going on 30 x 20mm bases. Originally I had planned on 40 x 40mm. That size looks too big. I chopped down a bunch of 40 x 40s for the 30 x 20s

Warmaster Dark Elves Vs Tomb Kings 2000 points

Kal was free and I am sitting around waiting on a customer to get their collective shit together. I hosted and it was Warmaster this time. Straight up gaming, no developing list, no tourney prep bullshit just Warmaster Original armies.

My list, break point 12;

Kal's list, break point 9;

I had set up with my Cavalry in the middle, flanked by archers and artillery battalions. Chariots wide out on the left flank. While the spearmen are out on the right. The idea was to pounce on an opening in the middle. Cavalry did nothing all game.

The Dice Gods ruined the game. Kal's Cold Ones, Bolt throwers, Witches, And Hydras took the day off. If that wasn't enough, two blunders helped the command rolls wonderfully. All of which should never happen so frequently.
Due to the shit show his dice put on. Tomb Kings win 2.5 Break to 9.

The action not in order.
It wasn't great dice on my part. My normal shooting.
