Regimental Fire and Fury "Battle of Stones River"

I was already set up. Torro popped by and asked about playing. No fuss, no muss. It was his first time with RF&F. He was amazed at how easy it was to pick up. He expressed multiple times that he wanted to play again.

We left the game exactly as is. How fully next week we will finish it.

Little Big Horn Associates

I have been a very hot and cold member over the years. Dad had been a member all my life. He would take us to every convention. Then when I left home for the service, I was gone. Once every few years I was home during a convention and went. Then becoming a member once again. That annual membership would expire as I was gone again. Honestly there were years I was around, but was not interested or couldn't be bothered.

Well I am a member again. And planning on attending the convention in ND. Membership does have its value. The research review is never a let down. High quality well researched articles and not your monthly magazine fish wrap stories. The Newsletter is interesting.
I was happy to see my renewed membership got me both Newsletters and the current Research review. Nice bonus. Both Newsletters I read write away. The research review I have been reading an article at a time when I am home. As it is collectable and traveling with it would ruin any value.

Regimental Fire and Fury "Snake Rail Fence part IV"

All Stone Mountain's stuff arrived while I was out. There was a delay. One of the molds was busted. I got it and it all cleaned up. Very little to no flash. Not to no bubbles.

I soaked it all in the MrClean stuff I use for resin clean up. That stuff is as good as Frank's Red Hot. I put it on everything.

Then All was primed with Otter Brown and packed for painting at work.

Last week was more fencing. I have all 30 packs of fencing punched and chopped in half. I am out of wood for bases. This week I used 3mm evergreen plastic. almost out of plasticard.

Mel The Terrain dude's book

Mel was there at the last AdeptiCon. He was hanging out, talking to everyone, and taking pictures of all the terrain and tourney boards. Poor Mel had to film us twice. As he came down our row of tourney tables, I looked up from my game. "Holy Shit. Its the terrain tutor dude. What the fuck are you doing over here? Chicago is a really shit choice of cities to visit." After which I noticed he was filming. Said I was sorry. No youtube money from people saying fuck! It must have happened a lot, as Mel came back to chat with us.

I now know what he was doing there. He already had the idea for the book. This AdeptiCon tour was a book drive. Smart bastard! I bet most of the Kickstarter funds came from AdeptiCon players.

It was a shit show of a kickstarter. Went hell bells. I think he got 300k for the book. That is huge for a first time author, self published! Mel was sick, had health problems, writing problems, etc. He signed every copy. Well sort of. He signed a paper for every copy. The original shipment was lost. Warlord was responsible for shipping them. To their credit, once notified I got one in days.

Mel and the editor did a good job writing and present the information. It is highly readable. A glossly hardback with glossly magazine type pages. Initial layout is great. As Mel gets into the projects, they stop building on each other as a knowledge base.

I read the whole thing the day it came. It is ok. Was it worth the wait? No Was it worth the Kickstarter price? Maybe. If you know jack all nothing, sure. It is a reference for foundational knowledge. If you have been in the hobby or watched his videos, no. I am going to eBay my copy. I expected more! Maybe I expected too much.

Regimental Fire and Fury "Snake Rail Fence part III"

That first group of fences put down some length over 67", on the Stone River set up. I replaced the initial attempt at fencing with the new improved. The new style is in the for-ground and teh old right behind it.
The foot print is so much less intrusive. It is also much more flexible for the 3D battle field.
        Those fences completed at work.

Regimental Fire & Fury "February's Office efforts part II"

Most of the efforts in the Office so far have been fences. Especially last week. I actually had to work and not paint. Which means the Union Cavalry troopers are not getting much love.
While work actually became work. Home provided hobby time even on a Superbowl weekend. Basing, washing, sealing, flocking, sealing, and touch up flocking.
Low Ammo markers, Union and Confederate Disorder markers
Confederate Horse Holders
Confederate Division Command stands
Union Division Command stands
Destroyed Gun markers
Silenced Gun markers and a Confederate Artillery battery
3 Union Brigade Commanders
Union Cavalry and a Dismounted stand
14 Confederate Inf stands
Confederate Brigade Commanders

Regimental Fire and Fury Snake Rail Fence part II

As in the last update. I have decided to rebase the fences on the Stone Walls footprint. The Stone Wall flow nicely over the 3D terrain of the RF&F battle field. The 4 sizes of the foot print allows for a greater flexibility.

The Stone Walls

These are the left over fence rails from Battlefield Terrain Concepts. They are listed as out of stock. BTC have not replied to requests for a large custom order.

I should have spray the bases green. These will need a double dip in the flock.

After the first game last year, I knew I would need fencing. A lot of fencing. Pendraken has 10mm split rail fencing in 2" rail sections. Each pack has 10 sections. I ordered 30 packs, equaling 50 feet. It won't be 50 feet as the rails are cocked at an angle and not straight.

The first 15 packs punched out.

2" sections are longer than the BTC's 3/4" sections. 2" is way too long for 10mm scale and 15mm scale. And extremely long for RF&F ground scale. I ordered a "Chop It" from Micro Mart. Each 2" section will get cut down to 1" sections.

Once chopped they are almost the same length

Your Momma is a Sallie "Part XII"

4 Land Raiders. Yes they are different types. It doesn't matter. Why? Because few armies get access to the different variants. At some point I will have sets of 4 of each variant.
