A new world civilian shepherd
GW drops the ball. Legions was slated for an August release. In the middle of a marketing push 4 weeks old, GW leaves a one paragraph statement on today marketing announcement.
Legions delayed to later in the year!
Something went wrong. Someone was praying and covering the fact that it was not going to happen. There is no way the company went forward with a marketing rush, only to say gotcha bitch.
Yet no one is truly surprised. GW has been under printing and producing product for over two years now. Not one of their releases judged supply. Orders were not filled, customers waiting half a year for books GW never printed more than one per their own stores.
This first occurred with the Black Books. FW/GW did not print enough leading to 2 printings of the Blood Angel and Dark Angle Black Heresy books. Then GW/FW never listed them as 1st and 2nd editions.
Someone needs to be fired! This is a horrible way for a publicly traded company to be run.
* GW has leaked the rules. Other than using inches, people are already playing. Not with their new rules. People are stoked about the game, waiting. Now they may find other ways to scratch that itch.
There are 3 rule sets in play now for the Horus Heresy in Epic scale. The last one being Imperialus Dominitius. Which I am sure Peter has updated to reflect the new Legions units.
* People own 3D printers. There are print services, print farms, running right now. As soon as the pictures and scale were released, the printing started. STLs were being created. The market will be saturated with minis by the time GW starts selling.
In 8 hours my Mars II printed all the command section and primarch for the Emperor's Children and I am 4 weeks later to the game. I have Salamanders and World Eaters in 6mm Horus Heresy already. Other are posting their printed PAINTED armies!
I have known Tom as long as I have been alive. Tom was one of dad's scholarly mates. I would see him at least once a year as I grew up. Then years later at history conferences or lectures. I never knew he played soldiers until 2009. Tom was a Battle Barn member. The Battle Barn ran games for years at HMGS Cons until it imploded in 2015.
Tom's life got in the way. I had not seen him nor had he been able to come to a Con in serval years. We would talk on the phone or thru email. This June I saw him out in WY. Tom said he was going to start playing again and hosting games. Tom's collection is very very nice. He is an excellent painter. His original table was built by his dad in 1976 or something. It was 19 by 7. His new table is modular. Any where from 5 to 19 feet.
Once I heard him say he was returning to hosting games, I asked for a spot. He asked when I was available. I said the day you choose, I will be there. I was going to fly in from Cali and then fly back. Cali dried up and I went home Thursday. Friday I drove out to OH, played Saturday and drove home Sunday.
