Anno Domini 1666 Cardinal's Men part II

It took long enough to get them finished. Over a month! I paint faster than that. There was a vacation to MT within that time, but still a month? Dam!

Yet another delay was waiting for me. The girls destroyed the mower. I tore it apart and ordered the parts weeks ago. The parts were there waiting for me. I got right up to the end. Then found out 2 parts still have not come, back ordered.
You can see the Epic Traitor Guard piling up in the background. I never got a chance to get at them or finish the bases on the Cardinal's

I kept it pretty close. Mine has armored boots and I made him older. Just like the Cardinal from BBC's season 1 of the Musketeers.

I know the dude on the end does not belong. The mini does look the part.

Then there is this guy. At some point I must of had paint on a finger. I have to go back and rework it or make it look like damaged cloth.

            Lastly a 3D print of a highwayman.

Legions Imperialis updates pt V

Last night a picture of the sprue was released. Multiple part dreads, the body, legs and arms are separate. The armor is also multiple parts. All of which we have seen in past Epic minis. Sentinels were multiple part. The tank used to come the same way. You had to glue the sides on, weapon systems, and hatch covers.

The greatest thing the sprue offers is barrels. How many of your FW resin dudes have lost their barrels? Nice replacements here. I can wait. Spare bits will end up on eBay.

The Road Heavy Rotation part II

2 Weeks in Cali. Delta on the way out, comfort +. Atlanta to San Jose is about 4 hours. I had trouble walking off the plane. My knees were killing me. The next good to go.
All 2 weeks are in the Holiday Inn Express. Its 5K a night with double points. The lighting sucks. The desk lamp is ok. The desk is far from the window and there is no floor lamp in the room.
The 1st week I got nothing done. Another company was onsite. We had to be handlers. I had 3 other minor bullshit jobs in the area. I was never at one place all day. Then we had to take the guy to lunch and dinner every night.
I popped in a kilo heavier the 1st Friday. No beer, running, oatmeal, lifting and swimming all weekend. No dew! Down 1.5 kilo Monday morning. I did get some painting down that weekend.

I have all B&P, but mostly Anno Domini 1666. All the minis traveled in a chessex case. My paints occupied the normal travel kit. I split them up between my clothes and tool box.

The flight home tomorrow is 1st class. I get in at midnight. But then Monday morning I have to come back to Cali. That one is 1st class too. I will be at the same place. Two new people to train. Same hotel.

If I am very lucky I will make HistoriCon Saturday night. If I am very lucky a pick up game of Epic. Otherwise I will miss it.

Legions Imperialis "Why the game is a mess?"

I said its totally fucked system. Discord and FB groups rapidly shit themselves.

GW switches to inches, range no longer needs to be measured. They screwed AT up with this. A walking machine with battle ship sized weapons cannot shoot across the table, a city, and beyond. The guns on a battleship from WWII hit at 26 miles all day, every day. With no ranges is the problem. All you did was create a smaller larger version or 40K skirmish. The same effect with the change to inches.

Which makes me happy and very sad. I am sad these individuals never served and have no real world understanding of how shit work. I am sad their math skills are .....don't exist. I am HAPPY for the same reasons. My sweet candy ass is and will be paid gross sums for making the world work as now I am sure the future nerds know less than fuck all. I am sad GW fucked this up so badly. Hell 80% is copied from someone else. How do you fuck that up? I am happy the scaling and new rules will have no effect on the game I love.

Why metric is used. Other than making a tabletop a playable area. A base equals more dude than visible. It could be 1 to 5 or 1 to 8. It is a command element, not 6 stands and 3 rhinos, its more than what you see. A ZOC concept is applied. A certain sized command element exhibits an area denial. Also the command element occupies a certain amount of table area in relation to the whole table area. The larger the measurement size the larger the table area.
A great example is people playing with 40mm or 54 mm dudes. Each one representing 120-240 men. all while playing on a table used for epic.

Ground Scale

Engage is 30cm. You move 15 and shoot within 15cm, = 30. Which means all effective small arms are full usage is within 30cm, or can reach out to.

Our M16s and fighters are ready at the 300m. You have to qualify at 300. The marksman engage out to 600m and snipers reach is, stick your head up. With this in mind 30cm equals 100-200m. Every cm then equals a ground scale of 6.6 meters. Every 5 dudes occupy 16.5 meters of ground (based on 25mm) and extend their zone of control for 33 meters.

Meaning if your sweet candy ass enters within 33 meters of them you will meet Jesus. Please understand your side arm a pistol is solid within 21 feet, 7 meters! 5 times the effective application of your pistol is Zone of Control. Which makes a standard issue rifle's range within belief.

If we take just the Small arms listed as 15cm. A standard infantry weapon at 15cm reach out to 99 meters. Then the calculation of 6.6 meter per cm must be 13.2m per cm. Which corrects the ground pounders normal every day effective weapons platform's fighting range at 200 meters. A Space Marine's rocket launcher is 45cm = 594 meters. That is believable!

Scaling

Now change all scale to 10-12mm, double in size. The company goes further changing cm to inches, a factor of 2.5. Ground scale goes all out of wack. Base size increases 5mm, 25%. Unless the number of dudes represented increases wickedly, ground scale is ok or no longer a part of the game. Time equal ground scale Vs distance as in all prior editions.

Your engage range becomes 75cm, small arms 45cm--29, 18 inches respectfully. The game then has little difference between 40K and epic. Your fighting skirmishes, just at a larger scale (platoon level with epic being company or division level).

Terrain

In Epic we always had a problem with city fighting or creating a city board. That was part of the game that we fought against. As one building was never one building. It was 2 or a small city block. Once you increase to inches a city becomes 1 or 2 buildings. Which would explain the very few buildings one gets out of the current AT terrain boxes.

Legions Imperialis Army list leaked

Confirmed the game is in inches.

I am out. I am not play this shit. I ain't buying fuck all. I ain't TO-ing a motherfucking thing. GW eat a bag of dicks! AdeptiCon and Little Wars, Cold Wars, Fall In can all go find a TO.

This is totally 110% FUBARed. Inches?

Ground scale changes by a factor of 2.5. There should be no ranges in the game. Every weapon should shot the table. An Abrams tank at 1/300th can shoot form home plate to first base.
The mini scale also increase by a factor of 1 or 1.3. Yet base size increased by 20% or a factor of 2. Sweet baby jesus! How much smoke was happening when some person approved this shit?

Legions Imperialis updates pt IV

The internet says pre-orders start August 5th. With the game shipping the August 19th.

And a support box full of dreads, ground assets and not enough to form a detachment or completed more than two upgrades. I will guess its a 30-45 buck box. It would be awesome if its was 15-20 bucks!

Legions Imperialis updates pt III

The latest update shows the Legion minis next to the current Epic dudes at 6mm. They are almost double in size. Legion will be Warmaster or close to Warmaster 12mm?
