Epic Traitor guard part VI

 

        Last weeks enough from on the road. AI Tbolts, FW Vultures, and Alpha Legion.

        This is the second set. I only did two of them the first time around as I thought they sucked to assemble. The 2nd set was no problem.

        FW is the wort casters ever. One would think they would get better over time. They were producing crap in 2006. They have continued to produce crap.

        I screwed up twice with this lot. 1st there are 4 squads not 3. Then followed up by only doing have the base lips on the infantry.

On site On Call part II

 

        Back up in the Crowne again and diamond for next year. This was the slowest year for me to hit diamond. I normally get it by the end of February. Same deal as last week, +3k a night, 1k for no service, 1.1k loyalty and plus double points at the end. 

        Same desk lamp. The lip of the desk is so huge I can't get the travel lamp to attach. I had to attach the travel lamp to the tv stand.

        And with my new travel desk lamp. Much better. This week I have the Traitor guard planes, Sallies, Pirates and IFs.

3D Print Service

        It is hard to find minis for the Golden Age. B&P and Black Scorpion only make so many. Old man and 1666 can be drafted from. There is one or two packs with North Star and Foundry. Perrys have 5-6. I don't want 50 dudes in 6 poses. I used a print service. The prints were cheaper than buying the stls. I should have bought the stls!

        Last year I used a print service to burn off some minis. The dude never knew there was a scale or didn't understand what 28mm was. I got minis ranging from 37 to 63mm. After too many emails, he finally agreed to reprint them. It took him 4 months to do it. They arrived last week. 

        They are great quality. Very sharp prints. A bunch of Arabic/Indian Ocean theater pirates, a few Caribbean pirates, and natives. I will use them in the 1695 event, 1666, and B&P of course.

        Why bother checking at this point? I knew he would screw up again. So much so, I didn't want to open the box. And I could tell he didn't rescale two right away. I am not dealing with that dude ever again. The two jacked in scale can go into the box of mini for the kid to paint.

        I used a Black Scorpion mini to check size. Their minis are dead on for 28mm, no 32mm shady business. This guy was also standing straight up. The rest were dead nuts on. Kind of makes me think he never reprinted the two jacked ones. Just sent them back to me.

Epic Traitor guard part V

 

        Last week turned into 2 weeks. 2 different on site, on calls with an install and a trainee sprinkled in. It all sounds like a lot. It was a lot of down time. Which was great for painting while working. 

        The 2nd Mech Infantry company is done. Here they sit drying, right before I leave again. 

        All the armor for the week on the road.

        3 more Malcaldors and 3 Artillery. The loader dudes will get done next week. Ah the week after.

    

    

        I ran out of stuff to paint last week. These boys have been riding with me week after week for dam close to a year.

On site On Call part I

 

        Some over achiever got this place to sign a new contract. 12 hour a day coverage 7 days a week. We didn't the people then and we don't now. Not one person has been interviewed. Just to ensure said "American Treasure" properly screwed it up, He record the start date wrong. It starts this week, the 1st. Not next month. 

An the award goes to

        The trip to Cali is canceled. That install is pushed back. TX project goes from 3 dudes to one old guy with one eye and a bad knee. The install I am on is dumped on a dude in training. And little old me takes it with no lube. I get to be the 2nd guy on site, Sunday to Tuesday with Wednesday every other week. There is no thought to my home being 6 hours away?

           There is a very nice Crowne Plaza there. Again double points and 3k a night.

I have painted so much shit. I ran out of shit.

Back out on the Road PART IV

 

        Same customers in reverse order this week. I got 3 nights in the Courtyard. Its still 1k a night plus 2k bonus per night. The lighting is shit but I need to get points here for the girls. I am listening to the Heresy and Majorkill while painting. 

        Its all Traitor guard this trip. I am working thru the 2nd infantry platoon, adding tank squadrons, artillery platforms, and APCs. I have the transfers with me also.

        I transferred up to the new install. When we started there 2 weeks ago. We said dudes the cables will be too short. They moved the wire trays 3 times. Wednesday the cables were too short. Thursday became day 1 of the install in the 2nd week.

        I am at the Crowne Plaza now. Double point plus 3k a night. I will be here until next week. The lamp is ok. It is just good enough to not have to move the floor lamp over. I did order a lamp to travel with. It wont show up until I get home.

        Electricians, IBEW guys, get 50 bucks an outlet in NY. Look at this shit!

        That there is the 2nd platoon of Traitor guard. Plus the Command stand for the first one. Once home they will get a final wash, flocked, and sealed.

        There is not much difference between IG and Traitor and DKOK. Infantry is Infantry and Tanks are Tanks. Just a couple of detachments make them different. Over the year I will paint up all the differences. Which will make 1 army into 3 or 4. More Tbolts and Vultures assembled.

        I had forgot how badly FW casts things. These were terrible. So many parts were never feed enough resin. The mold lines and miscast crap every where. You can see how slanted and bent it all is. I boiled them just to get to a point where I could try and put them together.

New England Epic group

 

        I dropped the scouts and added Tbolts. I wanted a Tac with dreads in a Thawk, but Thawks have only 8 spots. I don't know how much the scout helped me. Maybe another Tbolt is a bad idea? There is no activation change.

        I got up at 6:30. If I left by 7:30, I could get to the Portal by 9:30. Then smoke a cigar until the boys showed up. Up I was at 6:30. I ate at the Crowne Plaza. Then stopped for gas and Dews.

        As I walk back with my Dews, there is something weird under the car. I get closer, WTF is that hanging? Of course it is raining and the ground is soaked. I can feel the screw holes, no screws and whatever it is it is roughed up. I never heard nothing. I do my best to jam it back up. 

        Lucky me, Porsche is 20 minutes away and opens at 8. I drive up. No one shows up. Porsche say that dealers web site is jacked up. No service on Saturdays until summer. Motherfuckers!

        A mile from where I saw it first is an Indy place. They opened at 9. The dude is nice. He blows off the other appointments that morning. I am first up on the lift. The splash/engine guard is what was hanging. Half the screws are gone and it is proper porked. I charged me nothing. I gave him 40 for lunch.

        Porsche is the nicest people to deal with. The dealer have always helped me in the past for nothing. If there is real work to be done it is nowhere near cheap! 

        No gaming for me. Porsche says there is one in OH. But OH wont sell directly to me. The shit dealer cannot order it until Monday.
