        Union Cav is next. This here may give me an addition 25 stands, plus horse holders.

        The first group is in the water to remove the bases. I think these guys were originally limber horse dudes. I don't use horses for limbers. It is a waste of time painting stands that are not game pieces.

        I completed the rebasing, touch ups, and flocking all of the southern Cav I purchased.

        They were a tan colored lot. Too uniform for me. Way too butternut.

Regimental Fire & Fury Buying up minis to finish up

 

        I hate painting horses. More than anything painting horses drives me away. I can do it. They all come out ok. Horses are the hated part of the hobby for me.

        Walleys Basement coughed up a deal of the year. 192 Union and Confederate Cavalry for 50 bucks. 

        First all the horses need to be based for RF&F. 24 at a time go into a water bath to remove all the old plywood bases. Lucky that the original owner didn't use super glue. Once they are free. I will attach them to standard RF&F bases. 

        I will need to touch a few up, Then seal them in an army painter dip.

        The riders will get touched up. All will get added to their mounts and dipped together.

    

    

            This forced me to clear off the table. In doing so I had to start giving all the command stands their new flags. The paper flags are 10mm not 15. I think 15mm flags are too big. Each flag gets folded in half first. Then white glue on the inside and wrapped around the pole. After its pressed together and the edges matched up, I fold/bend it to look normal. Then the outside is coated in white glue. The south is next.

HistoriCon 2022 goodies

        Walleys Basement turned out a target of opportunity. I always go thru wicked fast. There are a few select things I am looking for. I almost missed the opportunity. I heard the vendor say 5 bucks a bag for ACW. That guy walked away. I quickly took a look. Cavalry!!! 12 dudes and horses, painted, for a 5er. I bought every bag. The vendor then said 50 not 80 beans. 192 painted Cavalry for 50, a steal, 13 cents a mini.

    4 more ladies for VV's pirate army. It is so hard to find the non-titty girl pirate minis. I also got my leather edition B&P book signed!

        I actual US vendor was selling his personal army. Brandenburg starter set.

    I had a second edition. This is a 1st with mint dust jacket.

HistoriCon 2022 NetAE

 

        Once again work tanked my attendance. Delta boned me on the return trip. I only made it back in time for dinner Friday night. Saturday was pick up games of Epic. Kal or myself could not say for sure we would be available to run a tourney.

        HistoriCon was in the Marroitt downtown Lancaster. It was my 1st time being there. The place is huge. Coffee and beers were an issue, nothing else.

        VV was with me. A Kiwi was coming up from Northern VA. The MD West Point guys were coming up to. We had around 8.

WTS Too much, Too Long

        Long time. Non stop travel. Zero painting. There was a vacation. I got off a plane, to get back on one for vacation, to get off and back on one to go straight back to work. There is no time for much of anything. I did play soccer with my daughter and sprained my MCL. Nice, huh?

        I have also been deeply involved in selling my Father's collection for mom. When I was home I was there, down in the collection search and cataloging and pricing. I can't find anything. I don't know what is what. We have just started to sell off the art work and artifacts.

        Also the Flashforge runs day and night when I am home. Mostly printing pirate terrain. This trip I paint for the 1st time in over a month 5 items.

Horus Heresy pre orders

        This weekend GW released the HH game. The website had a waiting list to get on. I don't know if that was just bullshit or not. I'm guessing it was a stunt. Either way I am sure they sold a metric cubic ass ton of HH. 

        I could care less about the 28mm game. I am not painting that crap. Nor am I interest in playing it. I am finished with 28mm games.  Mainly because table size is a problem. M&T and B&P are fine at that scale as a skirmish, limited engagement, mission oriented, operation.

        As a skirmish game, 40K is terrible. There tactics on the table are surpassed by ones budget and list creation. There are mission and objectives. Yet both elements fail to create a challenge within a skirmish setting and create application issues for speciality units.             

        Then there are ranges. 

                This is a future modern setting. the Table width is 48 inches. You move 6 or 8 inches. In 6 turns an individual would be able to tactically advance across the battle space. I would guess then each turn equals about 3 to 5 minutes of real time. You can go up or down 3 inches. 

                Your main standard weapon system shoots 12. So my rifle will only shoot 4 floors up. Its like saying Tom Brady can only throw a ball <3 yards. 40K should have tossed all ranges. And rolls to hit with vehicles. Modern vehicles, today have targeting systems are almost automatic. In 40K time it would be point and click.

        Ever since the limited edition slip case set came out. I have owned the BBB (big black books). Those bastards were sooo expensive I had them delivered to work. The 1st wife never knew jack. I stood in line to get the latest at AdeptiCon. I paid some fucker 20% more to buy me the BA one the next year. Cause fuck that line! 

        They are spectacular. Limited. Numbered. Works of art.

        Now with the new release, pre-order. Of course I had to buy the new edition. I got the starter and both army list books. North of 400 bucks! That is equal to two limited BBBs. I am not playing this shit if you remember. So the hope are I can rapidly sell off the plastic crack as soon as it arrives. If I am lucky the crack broken down into units will repay for a large percentage of the out lay.

            They were a long time coming. I had mounted up too many at once. It was a forced event just to slap some paint around. These are the first group. The second group is about half way done. No time to paint this week or next or the next. Work is actually work for once.
