Last trip of the year

 

         I have scored over 175k in points this year. Last time out this year. This would be a normal trip. The eng stationed here is one that I am slotted to cover for vacations. I bounced out of Thanksgiving. He gets xmas. 

        I am at the crowne plaza. 5k bonus points. The light sucks, but it was where the points were. I have Anno Domini spanish with me and traitor guard super heavies.

28mm Dragones De Cuera

 

    The Cuera Dragons were the border cavalry of the Viceroyalty of New Spain. They were a body, like European dragoons, trained to share both on foot and on horseback. The "Cuera" was the vest they wore, as protection from arrows and knife blows.

    They operated in Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, California, Colorado, Utah and Nevada.

Each of them had five horses and a mule. Its armament consisted of ashort musket, a long carbine (sometimes striped), four pistols, saber, sword, lance and shield.

    They fought and defeated numerous Indian tribes such as the Apaches and the Comanches.

During part of the 17th century and throughout the 18th century, they maintained and expanded a border of more than 5000 km.

2023 Wrap up

 

        A little early in reporting. Not much will happen this last week or so. Maybe I can get a few games in. Then nothing until next year.

         I have plans to TO at Small Wars. RF&F, Anno Domini 1666, and run an Epic tourney. No Epic will be at AdeptiCon. We are moving to Small Wars! Another change will happen with Cold Wars and Fall In. There will only be Epic or Warmaster, with Cold Wars having Epic. I will do RF&F and Anno Domini 1666 at HistoriCon. 

    *I did TO at Little Wars. No warmaster at all. Never made it to HistoriCon. Only played Anno Domini with my kid so far. Anno was a late delivery. Over all and with all the travel. This has been my best year for sticking to the goals and completing the projects. Very happy now as I look back on the year!

                                I would like to paint over a 1000 minis.

                                I want to sell off over a 1000 minis.

    *Almost 1000 minis painted, 950. The majority came from rebasing RF&F 15s. 28mms slow down the volume achievable. I have sold way more than a 1000. Most of what I sold was from collections I bought. My 28mm Romans were sold off and some Epic.

PLANS

       

 Blood and Plunder is the main project for the year. 

                1.) 1695 will be a major part. I will paint Muhgal, Arabic, and the 4 girls forces. Plus print and paint "The City of Corsairs."

                2.) Build a board for 1695, Sally Rouge, 1666.

                3.) Maybe finish the 2 ships I own. Or pay someone to do it.

    *Only painted minis and printed a few buildings.

    *The sea port for the Sally Rouge is done.

        This will be a road trip project. It is debasing, rebasing, dipping, flocking and seal them. Then determine what stays and what goes.

    *Happy here. I rebased well over 200 total. Next year I will sell Union regiments in division size.

        This will be another road project. I got an army of Africans at Fall In. All painted and based on pennies. I will glue them pennies to nickels. I use nickels. Then dip, flock and seal them.

        I went all in for the last kickstarter. Last I heard was the hold up being the manuals at print. I will paint them and teach VV and Priscila the game. The Spanish musketeer Alatriste is in the game. It is quick and easy to play. I will be run games at the Cons.

       *The delivery date was pushed back and back again. The states were about last to get their copies. I was last in that line!

 

Epic is number 2 for this years focus.

        1.) Kit out the Imperial Fists for Cold Wars. Then add on 30K detachments

        2.) Finish the Sallies

        3) Cherry pick traitor guard and sell of the remaining Chaos.

        4.) Finish the World Eaters for 30K and sell off whats left

        5.) Start the Blood Angels for 30K

        6.) Complete a 40/30K traitor guard army.

Flying around just to Fly around

 

        Well this week was a fine kettle of fish. Out to CO for a source replacement. Only to find out everyone has to be registered with the state. So that shit ain't happening. A Marriott Courtyard with double points plus 5k a stay. I had a nice room with a wargaming table! No time to paint. 

        Out the very next day to help the dudes in AZ. Except that customer didn't pay the last time. So no service this time. Credit Hold!

        Another Marriott Courtyard, same deal.  I didn't get a wargaming table in my room. But I did get to paint. All Anno Domini 1666 minis. Blocking in colors on the plague doc, and spanish troops.

        Then it was out the next day back home. 6 planes business class except for one leg. Only to be 267 miles short of the next level. Enough miles for free 1st class for the wifi's birthday.

        It is time to award yet another flying cock. If you happen to be a parent of a baby or young kid, stay the out of 1st and comfort plus. No that pays extra to be more comfortable wants to hear your kid. Nor watch your monster run rampet. Get off the phone be a parent.

        But that alone won't win you the flying cock award. You need to achieve this guy's level. 

            Step one; board early with your under 6 month baby. Babies don't board with those needing extra time. you board after comfort plus. 
            Step two; Bring the shit machine to 1st class. As you fish thru the bag that you boarded early to stow, drop the kid. Kick save! The baby lands on the back of a seat sliding down to be botted back into the seat.

            Step three; fail to depressurize the kids head going up and coming down.

            Step four; You got it to stop crying until you bounce its head off the ceiling making the baby fly.

Black Scorpin "Skeletons pirates"

        Hanging around in meeting and phone support, and power point training. Perfect time to finish that which never gets done.

        I was home a few weeks ago. I needed to get back to painting 28s at home. I wanted to start something easy, Skeletons. I started and they sat. I put in a couple of hours during Teams meetings.
 

        3 frairs that have been traveling with me for some time now. How long I can't say. They needed about 30 minutes of love. I had the time.

Arab Desert Beach Port part I

 

        Pirate action was never limited to the Caribbean. The North African pirates were a never ending problem for Christian Europe. The pirates had multiple little out post throughout Africa. The Slaver ports, and native African ports.

        The man in the Iron Mask has a chapter or two in Africa. El Capitan is in Africa also. 

        I got this whole double section for 50 bucks. It is not 28mm scale. More like 32mm. It will work. I started by cleaning it and spraying the whole thing Desert yellow. The separate wooden parts were sprayed brown. Both rattle cans are from Lowes.

        The wooden docks were dry brushed "Real Wood" followed by "Iraq Sand." I pulled all the docks done in the past and matched them up. A few have an Otter Brown prime base. They are darker.

        The large water front 3 sections are done. After visiting the sun coast of Spain. I now know the Arab structures were earth in color with no painted designs. Red brick/earth as in Magala.

        The cloth was just sprayed. Maybe I will go back and paint a pattern. For now I don't care so much. 

    

            The last two pieces need a few hours worth detail pick out and washes.
