HistoriCon registration opens on the 15th

Historicon 2026 Registration Information

Convention Registration for Historicon 2026 will open for all attendees on Friday, May 15th at 12:00 PM EDT.  Game Host, Volunteer and Vendor badges are already being entered by staff and those individuals should receive notification soon (and definitely before Event Tickets & Merch are available on May 26th).

How to Register for the Convention

HMGS has created an "Attendee Registration Instructions" overview: https://hmgs.org/conventions/tte-attendee-registration-instructions/.

If you are a non-Member, you can click on the "Get/View Your Badge" option on the Attend dropdown menu for Historicon 2026 on TableTop.Events.

If you are a Member, you will need to login to the HMGS Member Portal to verify your current Membership status; and then use the "HC26 Member Badges" menu option to display the "Member Pricing Verification" page, which will contain links for the different Member Badges on TableTop.Events.

Youth and Non-Playing Partner Badges can be added after you have purchased your Badge.  Links to buy these Badges will be in the Badge Verification email you will receive from TableTop.Events after buying your Badge.

For Complimentary Badges for Exhibitors, qualified Game Hosts, Volunteers, War College speakers, and Hobby University instructors you should receive a Badge Verification email, once the Badge is created.  Some Badges are still in the process of being entered, so you may or may not have received your confirmation email yet, but they should be ready by no later than May 22nd, i.e., before Event Registration opens on May 26th.  If you believe you're entitled to a Complimentary Badge and did not get a confirmation by May 22nd, please contact the appropriate Senior Staff member for your area (e.g., Events Manager for Game Host badges; Volunteer Coordinator for Volunteers; Exhibit Hall Manager for Exhibitors, etc.).

AdeptiCon 2027 dates

I don't think I will go. Unless B&P/Port Royal, and Epic are different days. And I would have to fly.

Cold Wars 2026 missed

It is held in my town. 15 minute drive. And this year I will miss it. I have missed HistoriCon, Fall In, and now Cold Wars. Sad state when I don't say go fuck yourself, I am playing soldiers.

I chose to miss AdeptiCon last year. I am not going this year either. It is not the new location. I would fly in either way and stay on points. There is just not enough time off.

I will be at Little Wars. It smaller and not the shit show AdeptiCon is. I will be flying in.

North East Epic Armageddon Tournament

The XXVIII annual Epic tourney was held in the usual spot The Portal in Mansfield, CT. There was 18 players and we were missing the NYC crew and only one NJ guy showed. 1 from ME. 3 from PA came up. They suffered a terrible drive once across the Hudson. I was lucky and working in Albany. My drive was a short easy 2hrs Friday at noon.

Coach's Steel legion took top spot. Mars and Dark Eldar were 2nd or 3rd.

I had submitted two list. With no work up games, I couldn't decide what to field. I did not have a nailed down schedule prior to the event. I sent in Tau. As I can play them with little study and a Sallie list.

Dave selected Salamanders for me. No worries, sort of. Sallies are challenging due to the lack of range. My Friday warm up game was against Frank. Frank borrow Dave's IG. Frank played with 3 or 4 detachments of super heavies. It was a lesson in what not to do and what could not be done.

Being the Dick that I am I made everyone play corners. I had a plan. Where there Blitz went determined where my 2 objectives in their half went.

In the tourney my first game was against Tim. Grudge match, we played at last year's tourney. The blue was used in this game. He had IG. I did much better, but still lost 3-0 BTS, Blitz, DTF.

Next was a game of bad things. I had Chris and his Grey Knight. No part of the plan was used as everything dropped.  3 teleported on my left flank. I lost the initiative roll. Chris failed to activate. I ate two of them nicely. He landed a Thawk and with a retain sent 2 detachments to the foam. The other 2 Thawks and friends came down. We both got bloodly. Those friends took off in Thawks. Everyone rallied at the end of turn 2. I won initiative finished the left flank. Chris landed all but smashed the right flank. A lone busted rhino was engaged by a Thawk. The rhino dished out box car after box car won the engagement. Then the space craft came last activation, hit nothing ad drop podded the Blitz and T&H. Sallies 2-0. Chris's BTS got away with a single stand.

Third game was with NJ Darius. Darius had Squats with him. The pink was used in this game. I held a Tactical for drop, garrisoned one group of termies and teleported the other. I had T&H in turn one and the gate was swinging home. It took 4 detachments to wall off Darius. All where busted and down to one or two stands. The last Tactical and Dev ran a blocking action in turn 3. Sallies with TSNP and T&H. 2-0

Termies bounced in every game but the last.

Little Wars 2025 After Action Report

Is little Wars worth it? As long as you do not expect to play is specialist games tourneys. There are very few tourneys at this Con. Yes. Even games that are booked you can get into. 80% had walk up spots available. I did not experience a single dickhead player.
The hotel is great. Rooms available on points up until the day of the Con. It is sort of close to the airports. 50 buck urber. The food situation is total shit. The hotel bar is almost ok. The service is slower than whale shit. The food in the gaming hall is bullshit. There was a taco girl bring food to your table. I did not use it. There is no place you can walk to to eat. You'll need to find a ride.
Cigars can be smoked right out side. Nice bench in the sun when it is warm enough.

The mid west crew has some very nice games, beautiful tables, and original games. One game was on the back set of a movie stage, and the Chinese movie game. 3 different modern rule sets were played. AWI and ACW all day. ECW, cowboys.

There are an absolute cubic butt ton of Naval warfare games. There were two with subs hunting convoys. I massive ancient greek ship battle. Serval WWII ship on ship.

                                                                    Save the Date 2026

I bought a bunch of shit. I wasn't going to......but there I was minding my own business and some clown was sell an estate. An estate of a dude that played soldiers. So I bought a star fort and ACW 15mm bands. Most the star fort made it home. 10-15% I had to leave with Chicago Matt to hold for me.

After that I returned to minding my own business until By fire and sword guy was staging two new rule sets one for greek warfare and the other F&IW.

Neither got me. The 2nd edition bFaS did.  Everything but minis Rule book, army book, cards........And they sell Anno Domini. I had to get a fatty. I dropped the most money here.

I bought a Greek ship for SAGA terrain from Brian.

Then the new Warlord Samurai book and the pike and shot rule from the estate guy. I did all this before playing pike and shot. For Black Powder it was ok, not terrible. I am not a BP fan at all. I will try it for Samurai. and see. It has to be great or I will sell the rules. The Samurai book I will keep. I think some of the special rules can be moved into the Warmaster historical samurai list.
